“Alright, so from this point forward you can be naked!”

We must’ve looked a little confused because the next words out of the receptionist's mouth were, “Yea, we would allow it in the lobby but the doors open and people can look in.”

The confusion more so came because we were shocked we could be naked all throughout the resort rather than just limited to the rooftop. And that was just one of the many perks we found throughout our stay in Rooftop Resort.

Coming into the Rooftop Resort on this particular weekend proved to be the best move we could’ve made. We actually booked our tickets in advance to come to Miami and experience Haulover beach for the first time. We heard all the great reviews for Haulover and decided we owed it to ourselves to check this place out. Tickets in hand, now it was time to figure out where to stay. We could always do the regular old downtown Miami and spend $1000 every time we step outside.

But no, we’re trying to experience Miami in a nude way. How can we maximize this? This is where we found out about Rooftop Resort. A clothing optional swingers resort. Now this is where we tend to lose people. Swingers? Yea, I get it. But the emphasis we chose to focus on was their slogan, “Dance Naked. Party Naked. Swim Naked.” As a naked newbie, that’s honestly what I’m looking for. I just want to dance, party, and swim naked. All the things I’d do clothed, but naked.

So we decided to stay at Rooftop Resort. When we go to the nude beach, there are swingers around. When we go to the nude lodges, there are swingers around. At this point, nudists and swingers have an overlap that can’t be escaped but must be understood. It was at this point a decision had to be made of whether we wanted to be at a nude lodge where we weren’t allowed to have loud music, drink, or smoke. Or a swingers/nudists resort where all of the above was encouraged.

We’re in Miami, duh we have to dance, drink, and smoke. So off we went.

From entering the Rooftop Resort, to speaking with the staff members and getting to know them, to exploring the ups and downs of Rooftop Resort, everything was amazing. We actually got lucky we stayed in the hotel this weekend as it was a big party weekend so we saw all the hotel had to offer to guests. On top of that, there was a hurricane unfortunately passing through the Caribbean which made it really windy in Florida. Rooftop Resort provided a guarantee that we could lounge around and enjoy our stay in Miami, naked. Due to the unforeseen weather, Haulover ended up being an absolute no go for us.

This weather didn’t stop the party at Rooftop Resort though. Arriving on a Friday, we settled in and took some time to eat and get comfortable. (Side bar: the food around the resort is absolutely incredible. Shoutout Rocco’s!). After getting situated and getting into our birthday suits, we wandered about. We saw a few people here and there, sipping on their choice of beverage, and casually swimming in the pool. It was here we met Sammy, the outspoken overseer of the castle. JK, haha. Sammy is the employee who really gives his all to the hotel. You can see his love for the guests, for the community, and for the legacy that is Rooftop Resort. Sammy took care of us and always looked out for us, ensuring the space around us remained to our liking. I would advise everyone going to the Rooftop Resort to keep an eye out for him!

After meeting Sammy, we lounged around and anticipated our friends' arrivals. Music on the rooftop was playing and after asking Sammy, we ended up playing our own music. So it’s nice to know they don’t mind other people playing music. Another thing to note is that they are BYOB (bring your own liquor), which I personally don’t mind because my drink of choice is usually never available at a bar or extremely costly (Hennessy). They do not have any liquor behind their bars, whatever you bring is what you drink. There’s a liquor store nearby as well, making BYOB even more appealing.

So on the Rooftop, we lit up a couple blunts, made a couple of drinks, and just enjoyed the ambiance with sun on us. Exactly what we always wanted to do in every nude destination we go. As Huda from Love Island said, “my dream date. Cute.”

Once our friends arrived we really explored the hotel more. Tested how late we could play music, or overall be ‘loud, unruly youngins’. And they encouraged it! They really just want people to come in and have fun at their resort. They enjoy seeing the younger crowd exist freely. It was refreshing as a young nudist to be that welcomed and accepted.

We then went on to meet Moises, our bartender for the weekend. They have a few bartenders in rotation throughout the month, but we were lucky enough to catch the fun, energetic Moises. Moises was making Rum punch for the all day party to give to guests and offered us a sneak preview. Not only was the drink delicious, but we drank it every chance we got. Every time we passed the bar, every time we walked by him, and every time Sammy saw us with no cups in our hands! If they had a signature drink, it definitely had to be this one. These drinks are included in your stay if your stay coincides with a party!

Another big pro to Rooftop Resort, is they prioritize their guests food and water intake. At every Rooftop Resort party or event there was always food and water. Whether it was a barbecue on the rooftop that went on even through gusts of winds, or a catered meal kept hot for the guests on the second floor, Rooftop Resort always made sure their guests were fed. The food was actually surprisingly delicious. Not surprising because I expected their food specifically to be bad, but surprising because for the most part the majority of resorts we go to have terrible food these days. The grilled chicken was perfectly seasoned, and one of our friends ate three in one go. The burgers were cooked to a perfect temperature with the cheese steamed to melt in your mouth. We still crave that chicken!

If you do end up partying a little too late and you look around and see the food’s all run out, don’t worry. Rooftop Resort is located in one of the best locations in Miami. There’s food all throughout the boardwalk, with my personal favorite, Rocco’s, closing very late night. If my memory serves me right, I’m pretty sure we got calamari, pizza, wings, and pasta at 3 AM!

Now of course, this is a swingers resort as well, and we would be dishonest to not speak about that aspect. For context, the difference between nudism and swinging is that nudists generally just want to be naked whereas swingers can be naked, but they also enjoy sexual activities in a more kinky way (for more on this, check out our Youtube video titled ‘Nudism vs. Swinging’). Here’s where I believe Rooftop Resort does their best to make everyone feel comfortable in this space. Yes, this is a space for swingers to enjoy their lifestyle, but the spaces for that at Rooftop Resort are made apparent and are split from where everyone else is. These playrooms are off to the side or specifically on the second floor where you’d only be if there was a nighttime party you would choose to go to. Besides that, there is a possibility that you may be propositioned to play with a couple or a single person. In these situations we would just inform whoever was asking that we were truly there to be nudists and enjoy the clothing optional aspect of the resort. In every single situation, we were left unbothered and continued to do our own thing. Never feeling immense pressure to do anything we didn’t want to do. What we would say is if you definitely don’t want to see any such lifestyle activities, enjoy the resort during weekdays, and weekend mornings. The raunchiest moments of this hotel are truly during weekend nights. All other times it was a nudist paradise.

With the resort being 15 minutes from the nude beach, Haulover beach, everything about this location was just so unimaginably impressive. The food nearby, the staff, the attentiveness and care, the amenities, the ability to exist freely. We felt like we found a hidden gem that was waiting to be found.

We ended up meeting people who were just like us; young and nude, looking for their place in the nudist scene. A lot of young nudists go into swingers territory looking for a place to belong. With many young nudists being pushed out of nude lodges with strict rules, it makes sense why there’s a big young nudist scene amongst swinger resorts/spaces who welcome them with open arms and give them the room to exist as loudly as they choose to.

That’s not to say nudists-only spaces aren’t needed, they are. But Rooftop Resort truly has something special to offer nudists. Something we feel other nudists should experience and appreciate. Because who doesn’t want to dance naked, party naked, and swim naked?
